Agroceutical Products scientific research and development work on the production of Galanthamine (and other compounds) from daffodils grown in the mountains of Wales has been widely supported, including funding assistance from Innovate UK, the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), EU and Welsh Govt.

What is

Galanthamine

Formula: C17H21NO3 | Pronounced as (ga lan’ ta meen)

This natural alkaloid is a key active pharmaceutical ingredient registered and approved for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. Galantamine[3] is used for the treatment of cognitive decline in mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease and various other memory impairments.[4][5] It is an alkaloid that has been isolated from Amayrllidacae bulbs and flowers including snow drops and daffodils.

Galanthamine has completed clinical trials and is an approved and licensed treatment for Alzheimer’s disease

Although currently there is no cure for Alzheimer’s disease, there are a approved medical treatments, which include Galanthamine, that can ameliorate the symptoms or slow down the progression of the disease in responsive individuals.
